Hey hey we’re the monkeys, and people say we monkey around… But we are back in the office and getting back into the swing of things after our Christmas break now. Here is our December Blog to tell you a little bit of what we have been up to.
We have all faced a bit of uncertainty over the last month with Omicron and what restrictions might have been put in place, but we have still all been very busy monkeys here at Van Monkey HQ.
It can be easy to get lost in the Christmas spirit in December. We brought lots of sweet treats into the office to make sure we were safe if we got snowed in, thankfully we didn’t- but it’s always better to stay safe and full of biscuits than sorry. As soon as it was here it was gone and there is a new year stretched out ahead of us- so we had plenty to do to make sure we were prepared for it.
We Amour the Ami
During December, we began a special obsession with the Citroen Ami and the countdown to the arrival in the UK of the little half-insect, half-washing machine. But we have talked about a lot of other new vehicles too- take a look at the other articles on Monkey Business!
The London EV Show
I (Adam) attended the London EV Show, virtually of course, and had a virtual look around all of the electrifying new EV technology and news on offer. You can read my findings from the London EV Show elsewhere on the Monkey Business section. However, one simple takeaway I had was- EVs are coming and a lot sooner than many of us may have previously thought. It’s not just the fact that EVs are coming though- they are going to be the next step forward in the advancement of driving. That may sound a bit dramatic, but it is fairly apt. EVs are going to be safer, cheaper and better for the local and global environment within the next few years.
Adam’s Steering Column
December brought the arrival of Adam’s Steering Column, a weekly opinion piece from Adam (me) about whatever I have found interesting, annoying or otherwise over the course of the previous 7 days. Keep your eyes peeled for new editions and let me know what you think (within reason of course).
We know we all need to do something at Van Monkey to help the environment and we are looking at making our mark (or rubbing it out, whatever the correct term is) to help improve the environmental crisis- through planting trees. If you have ideas of other ways we can do this, we would love to hear them.
On a slightly flatter note, we had to cancel our office Christmas festivities this year because we didn’t want to jeopardise Christmas Day, as it turned out a prophecy had already been spoken that meant Carl, our Managing Director, had his Christmas affected by Covid from elsewhere- and New Years too for good measure. He told me his Christmas was absolutely white, at least I think that’s what he said.
Oh well, we have the whole year to make up for it – let’s hope it isn’t New Year, New Flu!
As always, thanks for reading and we hope to speak to you soon!
